The helmroom dome of the 100' sailing Charterboat is designed to be totally "fly by wire". All functions of the ship are linked to switches on the pilots panel. Winches control the keels, rudder lift, main boom, main boom furling, jib sail trim, jib sail furling, dual anchors, and storm shields. it is possible to use "jeep" type winches for these functions and not use the 5-10 K sailboat winches on elaborate yachts.
The autopilot is run by computer and the steering is done by mechanical link. Provisions for the crew include a dumbwaiter next to navigation, a head and two bunks for extended night voyages.
Weather includes computer generated satellite radar images and forecast. Radar is included as a station in the event of a storm condition. Of course there is the standard depth sounder along with satellite underwater imaging and tide changes computer , cd rom navigation maps and chart maps, surveillance cameras for fore-aft-and- sail watches. I hope also to include an underwater camera for the safety of divers and anchoring in a decent bottom cover.
